Ghost Dance – Ghost dance

I looked upon their faces in dreams of ecstasy
Returning home to meet me amid great panoply
I’ll stay, I’ll wait
Dreams are lost but never regained
A host that once outnumbered
The infant race of man
So many for the counting as after them we ran

I’ll stay, I’ll wait
Dreams are lost but never regained

Remember the fields burning on the skyline
The edge of the world we thought
And remember the giant herds such a miracle
So many of them we fought
Remember the butchered children
Broken promises that lad them to the dead
And remember the young men dancing in the fields
The Messiah has come they said
And bid them stop

Now you’ve lost your chance
The world plays host to the dance
To the dance

When I look back now from this
High hill of many years
I see a dream that died there
Along the trail of tears

I’ll stay, I’ll wait
Dreams are lost but never regained
